IRIDAS Releases FrameCycler DI 2009
Munich, December 9th, 2009 – IRIDAS, industry leader in digital lab processing and production workflow technologies, today announced the release of FrameCycler DI 2009. FrameCycler DI provides a sophisticated digital lab toolset, including RAW processing, primary color grading and advanced features for stereoscopic dailies. FrameCycler DI 2009 runs on Mac, Windows and LINUX.
Universal RAW Processing
The latest FrameCycler DI release stands out in its universal support for RAW files from all digital cinema cameras used in production today. FrameCycler DI processes RAW files from the ARRI D21, Phantom, RED, Silicon Imaging and WEISSCAM cameras. Based on IRIDAS’ RealTime RAW 3.0 technology, FrameCycler DI uses high fidelity algorithms to interpolate RAW files natively in the GPU providing render quality at up to 4K at 24fps. This translates into shorter turnaround times for digital labs working with modern cinema cameras and improved quality compared to traditional transcoding workflows.
Comprehensive Stereo 3D Dailies Toolset
FrameCycler DI uses IRIDAS’ DualStream stereoscopic feature set, to provide a true stereo timeline for immediate review and processing of stereo dailies. Spatial and temporal offsets as well as zero parallax can easily be adjusted for quick turnaround times. FrameCycler DI enables stereoscopic monitoring on all common stereo display technologies, including Dual SDI, polarized displays and shutter glasses.
FrameCycler DI’s integrated render farm management utilizes IRIDAS MetaRender to provide background rendering and transcoding. MetaRender nodes run on standard Mac or PC workstations and work in either CPU or GPU accelerated mode. FrameCycler DI automatically detects available MetaRender nodes and schedules the render jobs for optimum workload distribution.
Native 64 Bit Support
FrameCycler DI is a native 64 bit application on Windows and LINUX, providing optimized performance on modern processors. By having access to memory beyond 4GB performance when dealing with large resolution files, such as 4K RAW files from the RED or Phantom 65 cameras is significantly increased. FrameCycler continues to be available as a 32 bit application for maximum compatibility with legacy systems and codecs.

With the introduction of FrameCycler in 2001, IRIDAS redefined the way artists viewed digital footage. In 2002, IRIDAS introduced the first stereoscopic review tools for the post industry. In 2003, SpeedGrade, the first GPU-based color grading application, brought new levels of performance to color correction and a unified way to communicate color in production workflows. The introduction of RealTime RAW in 2007, brought instant playback and color correction to RAW camera pipelines. Today, IRIDAS aims to streamline production and post from on set to finishing, and helps make stereoscopic moviemaking an everyday reality.
